Whether or not Arthritis Park East Chiropractic Brooklyn Park MNPercocet will be linked to Prince’s recent death, what’s certainly true is that opioid medications are increasingly being found to be dangerous and addictive. The Opioid medications include: Codeine, OxyContin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Percocet, Lortab, Vicodin, Methadone, Morphine, Dilaudid, Fentanyl and others.  Many would say that we currently have an epidemic of opioid overuse.  The US has become the world’s largest user of opioids at 80% with orthopedic surgeons and primary care physicians being responsible for many of these prescriptions.  The list of celebrities and others that have died from opioid overuse is growing daily. According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), at least 40 people in the U.S. die each day from an opioid overdose.  This has caused the CDC to issue new guidelines for prescribing opioids for chronic pain.

The new CDC guidelines supports the use non-pharmacologic interventions for pain treatment across a variety of patient populations and healthcare delivery settings.  Chiropractic is all about exhausting non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical approaches for pain management before moving on to higher risk options.  At Park East Chiropractic we use acupuncture, adjustments, TENS units and exercises as good drug free options for pain.  More and more people are finding acupuncture and chiropractic to be their treatments of choice.
